This is very true Philipp, I've been an android developer for almost a decade now and making money with apps passively is no longer viable.
I'd however argue that back in the primal stages when the appstore wasn't so saturated, you could be make a killing especially if your app got to be featured by Google, at some point during the Advent of Nokia Lumia, they even had a program that they would pay a developer just to publish an app to their store.
It is still possible to make a good paycheck although you'd have to be willing to invest more in marketing and research than the actual development.
You don't necessarily have to fight for retaining the users in time unless you are depending on Ads, I actually earn a monthly paycheck (not the best) using subscriptions and IAPs (especially for games)
It's related to the app content and users niche. Developpers try to build small app to grow up their portfolio but building app that make you riche it's possible but you need idea and time, it's not just about coding,(strategy, conception, updates, ux, marketing…). By the way there are developers hwo make thousands of 💵 by month.
This is not true at all is like sying music won't make you rich or writing won't make you famous. In the end we could extend this to every aspect of creative life. People have to understand value is directly linked to quality of your content. So if you don't succeed you just aren't doing the right thing.
I cannot agree more, apps become lucrative when combining the best tech & best marketing , building apps alone yield into cold traffic, and no traction
Ive done it multiple times. This video is cynical and overly negative.
Marketing doesn't require a large budget. I have multiple apps with millions of installs. I've had a top 10 app twice now in Google Play and Apple Appstore and spent $0 on marketing.
You just have to be creative. Build something people NEED and be smart in how you get it in front of people. Dont listen to anyone who says it cant be done. ✌️
I have burned my fair share of money on marketing 🙂 I 100% agree with the video but I enjoy the process, learned a lot + my app landed me a job so I will continue on with it.
It won't make you rich until you do get attention and have 50,000 people paying 10 dollars a month and are making 500,000 a month and then I think you can afford to develop customer service bots
You don’t need to do that go to Safari then click on the arrow then go down until you see on home screen then click you can name it and then once you click on ad, it will show you your own app

My app has 10M+ downloads without marketing, but I guess these days it's no longer realistic to do this.

I make $600 from Admob and app sales
I have a plan to publish apps to Play Store that 100% free and open source. 😂
Mobile game app is the easiest app to make money with because of ads and in game purchases…
Simple, become a full stack dev for hire

Apps are another way to sell service basically, scaled by tech but lots of maintenance work along the way .
I asked for how much money you earned?

Its alwahs a side hustle until you can make a living out of it.
One of most honest content on apps. I mostly agree with you, all you have said should be considered before having such unrealistic belief.
Here in Canada we have a lot of pre-seed and seed investment firms who are specialized in tech startups
Tons of ppl have done it negative nancy
Knob.
people tend to follow those who have proven experience rather than talking out of the air
I want to make my own app so I don’t pay to use another app
Ughhh totally wrong ,if u have usp and something interesting people use it
Duh that's why you build multiple apps multiple apps will make you rich don't listen to this guy or you'll be poor like him

Stupid description!!! YES GUYS UR APP WILL MAKE YOU RICH
I have two on Google Play but no income hhh. I published them during my college journey and I am graduating soon.
yes because how long people play on ur app you get paid from them playing 😂
This video is spot on! Books like The Secret Doctrine of Wealth offer more value than years of college. It’s all about self-education.
