I am a systems engineer making $75k/yr. My wife is a school administrator. While it is a good job, and a fantastic company, we're still living paycheck to paycheck, my time with my family is limited, and because we can't really set anything aside, looking after our parents in the next few years is going to be Very difficult. Let alone having anything set aside for medical expenses, sudden house repairs, new tires, etc. Lastly, the equivalent of ~2days each week is spent with me driving to and from the office.
I'm looking for a 'way out', for myself and family.
If I transition to digital marketing, I need to know a few things:
– Because we're living paycheck to paycheck, I'll need to be able to hop into the new career making close to what I'm currently making. Is that possible?
– If I learn this new skill, will the career opportunities potentially disappear in a few years?
I'm not a stranger to hard work, nor a stranger to hard work not paying off, unfortunately. I truly, finally, want to find something wherein I can support my family and we can leverage those skills into a sustainable business that, hopefully, we can all do together. Life is too short to spend most of it away from family.

Its my "new american dream". I never really paid attention to retirees moving overseas because I assumed I could never afford to. But now, prices are so high here that I can't even retire here – BUT I can afford to travel the world (the less expensive countries anyway) and have a new wonderful standard of life in new gorgeous places and cultures?! HOW does that make sense?! The USA has almost completely destroyed the middle class. Unbridled, heartless Capitalism!

Blogging/freelance writing is a lot more work than it sounds like even if you use AI for idea generation. Dealing with overzealous site runners, corporate style guides for each brand, and sometimes having to upload to their awful CMS. Sites that pay a lot will smell AI and discontinue services with you and then tell others in their network—you'll basically earn a Scarlet letter. Feel free to search my name for my credentials, but I don't think it's worth bothering with that side hustle anymore.

All easy to start, but all way too competitive and oversaturated. You are competing against more experienced people and people applying very low prices that have a lot of reviews/higher ratings. Waste of time to try.
